The dolls and I went downtown today to check out The Empire State Trail. It’s a new trail that allows you to go North to Canada or get on another trail in Albany and go across the state. Sadly I am not up to such a challenge but my friend Barbie is ready to go. I love that the sign is crooked. This is the start or the end of the trail depending on your point of view. You can also get a gorgeous photo of the WTC from here.

Winter Manhattanhenge
Many people are familiar with the Spring/Summer Manhattanhenge. People stand in the streets at sunset on 42nd Street, 34th, Street, 23rd Street, etc. But there is also a sunrise Manhattanhenge. Plum joined me to watch the sun come up. It’s a lot quieter, Only a few people show up and you can get a lovely picture. I haven’t updated the blog in a long time so I may put previous doll adventures since there aren’t too many places we can go with COVID.
Universal Studios

We went to Orlando and our first stop was Universal Studios. I haven’t been in a number of years so the park has changed a lot. Some old favorites are gone but there is some great new stuff as well. The newest ride is Jimmy Fallon Race through New York it’s a motion ride where you sit in a theater as if you were starting in the Tonight Show. When you first enter it looks like the real NBC Studios and there is a nice homage to all the hosts of The Tonight show
I also enjoyed many of the shows, The Animal Actors, Horror and Makeup and the Fear Factor Live show. Now if you’re a fan of the show you know there are gross things with bugs and disgusting things to drinks.
I also enjoyed the character Meet and Greets. Something I wouldn’t do as a child. So here is my little Hailey with Hello Kitty.
Las Vegas
The dolls and I spent a few days in Las Vegas last week. While I didn’t hit the strip I did go to some interesting off the beaten track places. I saw a really cute show at The Smith Center, Will My Easter Bunny Go to Heaven? I went to the West Winds Drive In in North Las Vegas and saw Power Rangers. It’s a great deal two movies for $7.50 a person.
The next day I went to the Springs Preserve which has a great Butterfly Exhibit, interesting natural plants and a new exhibit called Boomtown 1905 which is a block of an old western town.
I also hit the Atomic Testing Museum and The Mob Museum. You could spend four or five hours in The Mob Museum and still not see everything.
TCM On Location Tour
I do love the On Location tours I’ve done Gossip Girl, Sex and the City and now the TCM tour. This one was really fun because you have locations from “Classic” films. This is the location where Audrey Hepburn whistled for a cab in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. The building is under construction. The tour guide Jason was incredible and it is really a great way to spend 3 hours.

The Video Games (Parody of The Hunger Games)
I went to see this show last month and had a fantastic time. I’m a big fan of The Hunger Games and only slightly familiar with some of the Video Game characters Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda but that didn’t matter because it was so much fun. Get there early because the cast mingles in the pre-show bar area. You interact via Twitter so I would recommend if you don’t have an account create one before you go. The show is different every time because of the audience participation. They have shows monthly in New York and one is coming up this weekend on the 18th so if you are looking for tickets.
I took Katniss with me last month. The odds were in her favor, she wasn’t reaped
Waldorf Astoria
This is a throwback photo. The famous Waldorf Astoria is now under a two year renovation. I just read that some of the interiors are up for Landmark Status. See Article by Noah Hurowitz
Waldorf Astoria Interiors Landmark
I do hope the City Council approves it. I would love to take her back when the work is done and get some pics on the inside.
Gritty Times Square
I like to do a lot of walking tours and I went on one called The Remnants of Gritty Times Square. It was a fascinating look back at the bad old days of Times Square that a lot of us have only seen in movies. The tour guide Robert was very well informed and entertaining. I highly recommend it, it’s available at Untapped Cities. My doll dressed for the tour.

Manhattanhenge
While it is late winter/early spring, I was thinking of warmer days and the ever exciting Manhattanhenge. That time of year when we try to capture the sun in perfect alignment for our selfies. These are the tourist dolls Charles and Plum and this is one of the many tourist spots they have hit. I hope to share more of my dolls travels in the future.
First blog post
My dolls are tourists and they want to show you where they’ve been.
This blog will show the travel adventures of my dolls. I take pictures of dolls as if they are tourists for fun. Here we are at the Unisphere in Flushing Corona Park, site of both the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fairs.
